Ligi Ndogo Planets played
to a 0-0 draw at Kenya Revenue Authority over the weekend.It was the first time
the Planets have failed to score in a league match since 17 July 2011 when they
lost 0-1.They lost to Muhoroni Youth.The Planets and Mahakama are the only
teams that have not conceded a single goal,so far,this season.
KRA packed the midfield in a 4:5:1 formation while the Planets stuck to the normal four defenders,midfielders and two strikers.Though a stalemate,the match was not devoid of fireworks.KRA got into the game early and almost scored in the second minute of play.Goalkeeper Charles Ouma had to leave his line to intercept an errant Alex Karmo backpass.
Midfielder,Abbas Akinyemi displayed a vastly improved game;he hit the post minutes later when his intended cross caromed off the far angle.The midfield combination of Sammy Machio and Tom Murila were able to penetrate the packed midfield with a combination plays.Gentle and Abbey,the twin strikers charged with last shots had a combined eight shots.
Charmant Chihuguyu was introduced into the game for Harry Genlte with 31 minutes to play.23 minutes later,he had the game's best chance at scoring.He won an aerial ball in mid pitch rounded off two defenders and firmly pitched a powerful shot at goal.His sure shot ended up into the net.The referee and linesman judged it a no goal.It came in through the side net.
Cliff Ouma was introduced into the game with seven minutes to go.He had the last shot of play from a Charmant chest pass.
Charmant's powerful shot intended at deflection on a defenders foot was the last shot of play.
Focus shifts to the coast where the Planets will be away to Admiral and Bandari.The second match features the highest scoring team (Bandari have scored 9 goals) against a Planet team that has conceded no goal.
