The Ligi Ndogo Planets travel to Mahakama this
Sunday in its first division one A match this season. Ligi started
well but a series of miscues saw them finish a distant 6th, seven and a half
matches behind promoted Bandari.
They are back at it again this season.Part of this quest will
rest heavily on the play of its new signings. Ligi has brought into
its ranks former Sakataball best player Mike Machek, teenage prodigies Evans
Njuku and Coca Cola standout Collins Odawa from Ambira high school;a cast of
promoted players from the Ligi Ndogo academy program will also feature
notably this season. They include Edgar Odhiambo,Mark Tizodi,Lawrence Ochieng
and Edwin Mkanda.Ligi Ndogo bred midfielder Brian Yator, returns from a loan
spell at Kibera Celtic.
The return of captain Samuel Machio will also boost the
Planets.Machio sat out a good part of last season with an ankle injury. He has shown much improvement in his return, slotting back easily to his leadership role. More noticeable was his readiness to compete this season.Remarkably, he was among the top scorers during the pre season with three goal.

The experienced duo of Phillip Uochukwu from KRA and Artur
Weyula from Nakuru All Stars promise a tight back.
Mohamoud Jama
Perhaps the most notable inclusion will be Mohamud Hussein
Jama, the tall and robust striker is a former member of the Somali Republic
national team that did duty at the Cecafa regional tournament last year.
Despite going down in the early stages the racy and talented striker was most
notable in Somali's three matches against Burundi,Sudan and Tanzania. He joins
the Planets this season from Banadir football club in the Somali premier
league.
He has displayed a formidable form and determination in a series
of exhibition matches for his current club. However he is more impressed by the
organization and management of the club.
Next season,we will play in the premier league, he says. This is
my token payment to the club that has been so good to me.
The Mahakama v Ligi Ndogo match will be played at 1.00pm at the
City stadium. Last season the planets picked up three points off the former
premier league side, winning 2-1 and tying 0-0 at home.
Mahakama finished the season on a trot tying Kariobangi Sharks
2-2 away and losing their last match 1-0 to KRA at home.
The Planets tied Moyas 0-0 at home but finished on a
high, beating Nairobi Stima 2-1 on the road.
