Planets eye Sparkie

Third placed Ligi Ndogo Planets are at home to Sparkie Youth of Mombasa in their second last match of the first leg.The Planets complete their fixtures the next day,again at home to Magongo Rangers.

Sparkie Youth are one of the teams that were thrust into  the limelight by the Safaricom sponsored Sakataball tournament.They made it to the coast regional tournament but were unfortunate to lose in the finals to Redeemed Boys.
Last year they participated in the Nationwide Division Two league and finished 6th behind Green Berets,Coast United,Gatundu Stars,Moyas and Kibera Celtic.They are currently placed 1st at number 9 among former D2 teams.
They are one of the 6 teams from the coast region and are currently third behind Bandari and Admiral.
In the national log,Sparkie lie 9th having played 16 matches,won 7 tied 2 and lost 7.

About Sparkie
They started the season well beating Magongo Rangers and Gatundu Stars,both by a solitary goal at home.They dropped their next 3 matches on the road at Sharks,AP and Strikers before coming back home to beat Kibera Celtic.They capped their biggest weekend with a home win over league favorites,Mahakama (4-0) and 2-1 on the road to Mathare Youth.

They lost to KRA in their next match and tied Admiral and Coast United.They lost 3-1 to Bandari but returned the favor replicating the score over Thola Glass.Moyas surprisingly beat them 1-0 at home,Bidco 3-1 on the road before returning home to beat Green Berets 2-0.

Samuel Njau is back in goal for his fourth match this season as a starter.Jaswel Ngugi gets the nod ahead of Benjamin Kipruto at central defense,in the absence of premier bound Harry Gentle.Douglas Simiyu impressed in 37 minutes coming in against Mathare Youth and is starting in place of Brillian Ochieng.
William Otieno and Thomas Lugera are new introductions to the bench.Former Admiral,Lugera replaces Charmant Chihuguyu who is nursing a hamstring strain.
